My Not So Rural Life

What to say for an intro...

This is about my journey from this...
light EDSA traffic... taken while on my bicycle to work
to this...
rice field in front of our house in Banay-Banay

An uprooting really, from my life in Quezon City to my parents hometown in Malinao, a fourth class municipality in the province of Aklan.  From a lifestyle of convenience where everything is within reach or a click away.  To a way of life that did not change much since the time of my grandparents. A life I am not accustomed to, to say the least.

I can't say I'll miss the traffic, the pollution, the noise and the congestion of my present concrete world.  What I know is I've been dreaming of the day when I can once again fill my lungs with clean air, feel the grass with my bare feet, hear the quiet flowing of the stream and watch the fireflies as they light up the evening sky.  I am excited, but turning a new page in my life and uprooting myself at age 38, makes me feel butterflies in my stomach even now.

I'll be bringing along some of my city arsenals and essentials.  A phone and PC for communication, a bike for mobility, a coffee maker for the coffee addict... you get the idea.  Hopefully I can bring everything (wink) sooner if not immediately, to somehow bring the much needed convenience to make the transition as painless and smooth as possible, not just for me but for my companions as well.  I will be joined by two other people.  My Nanay, my guiding light and prayer warrior, for this is her journey too.  And Junjun, a loyal and trusted friend.

The time is near and I definitely am excited.  Join me as I document my life in my not so rural life.
